Perform high-quality urologic ultrasound exams and generate corresponding technical reports for physician review. Maintain equipment, manage supplies, and ensure a safe, clean environment following infection control protocols.
Requires an Associate degree and ARDMS board certification in Abdomen and Physics, along with BLS certification. Candidates must have at least one year of experience performing diagnostic abdominal ultrasound studies.
The Ultrasonographer is responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound exams and corresponding reports of the patient’s anatomy, as it applies to Urology, in a timely manner for review by physicians in accordance with UUG’s protocols.
Perform exams safely and efficiently. Prepare patients for exams by explaining the procedure and assisting as needed with transferring them to the ultrasound table. Obtain and record accurate patient information, which includes a timeout to confirm the patient’s name and DOB. Include prior test results and information from physical examinations when appropriate in a timely manner. Operate and adjust ultrasound equipment and maneuver patients to obtain quality images for diagnostic purposes. Perform sonogram and provide oral and/or written summary of technical findings to assist physician with diagnosis and treatment. Determine appropriate images to include to differentiate between normal and pathological areas. Transfer all images to the PAC system and possess working knowledge of PACS functionality. Maintain a clean and safe environment within each exam room. Maintain Cleaning logs for each machine/room. Maintain and stock supplies, prepare supplies for special examinations, and order supplies when necessary. Report any malfunctioning equipment to management in a timely manner. Adhere to all UUG’s policies and procedures for Infection Control. Associates degree required. Minimum of one year of experience performing diagnostic abdominal ultrasound studies. American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) board certification; Abdomen and Physics certification required and will be verified prior to employment. Certificate of completion from a recognized and accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and will be verified prior to employment. BLS certification is required and will be verified prior to employment. Maintain CME requirements as required by ARDMS and will periodically be verified throughout employment. In some instances, UUG may offer employment to a board-eligible candidate; that individual will have 1 year from the date of hire to pass both the Physics and Abdomen portions of the boards. Failure to complete this requirement will result in termination from their Ultrasound position. Key Competencies: Conduct oneself in a professional manner that represents UUG’s core values. Ability to demonstrate proficient computer software and database skills. Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. Ability to organize workload to determine priorities. Ability to tolerate working in confined areas and/ or with distractions when necessary. Ability to and feel comfortable with multi-tasking, proactive problem solving, and working in a fast-paced environment. Adhere to HIPAA regulations.
