The Histology Technologist will perform routine and special paraffin sections of surgical and autopsy tissue for microscopic examination to aid in disease diagnosis and treatment. Duties include preparing equipment and reagents, performing various staining techniques, maintaining records of tissue samples and blocks, and obtaining specimens from operating rooms as required.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science/Arts in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, meeting CLIA/CAP education requirements for high-complexity testing. Certification eligibility is required, mandating obtaining HTL certification within 18 months, though no prior lab experience is needed for NAACLS program graduates.
Education Bachelors of Science/Bachelor of Arts in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science; or Medical Technology. Must meet the CLIA/CAP Education Requirements established to perform high-complexity testing. Minimum educational or experience requirements may be modified on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) director as long as minimal CLIA requirements are met by the employee for the tasks being performed Experience
One year lab experience with BS/BA in Science. No experience needed for NAACLS (National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences) Program.
