The Patient Care Technician supports nursing staff by performing delegated basic patient care services, including assisting with daily living activities and maintaining a safe environment. Key duties involve collecting and recording patient data such as vital signs and performing procedures like blood glucose monitoring, reporting findings to the supervising nurse.
Candidates should ideally have 0-2 years of experience in an acute care setting or be currently enrolled in a Nursing program. Required certifications include Basic Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of hire, while Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) are preferred.
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated tasks in alignment with the PCT's training and the department's needs. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (LVN at Texas facilities), the PCT supports patient care by assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining a safe and organized care environment, and ensuring effective communication within the healthcare team.
