The intern will independently conduct scientific experiments for product development, performance troubleshooting, and protocol optimization, while also performing microbial cell culturing, basic microscopy, and nucleic acid purification as assigned. Responsibilities also include assisting with data collection and interpretation, maintaining project documentation, and reviewing relevant literature.
Candidates must be working towards or have completed a BS or MS in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related field, with recent graduates highly encouraged to apply. Essential requirements include basic laboratory skills, preferably in microbial culturing, plating, basic microscopy, and nucleic acid purification, along with knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Microbiomics team as a Research Intern! This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in exploring cutting-edge methods and technologies and applications in the fields of microbiome research and Next Generation Sequencing.
In this role, you will be mentored by industry veterans from our Microbiomics R&D group. The qualified individual will be responsible for initiating and completing an assigned project throughout the duration of the internship. In this role, you will work collaboratively with other team members to design and execute proof of principle studies.
The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated learner, an effective team player, and possess a strong interest in learning about microbiology, probiotics, and next generation sequencing. The successful candidate should also have experience in microbiology and molecular biology laboratory techniques.

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20 per hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
