This role involves assisting nursing staff in the treatment and care of patients of all ages under the direction of a Shift Manager, performing routine tasks such as changing linens, emptying bedpans, and maintaining equipment competency. The extern must also adhere to compliance standards, report patient condition changes accurately, and follow established hospital procedures.
Candidates must be a student nurse currently in the eighth month of an LVN program or the last year of an RN program, possessing a High School Diploma or GED. No prior work experience is required, but the applicant must demonstrate knowledge of basic bedside nursing skills appropriate for patients of all ages served in the assigned area.
Under the Supervision or direction of a Shift Manager, performs various duties assisting the nursing staff in the treatment and care of patients of all ages, in accordance with the established methods and procedures of the hospital. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED. Student nurse in eighth month of an LVN program or last year of an RN program. Minimum Work Experience: None Required Licenses/Certifications: None Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: General knowledge of basic bedside nursing. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on the physical, psychosocial, education, safety and related criteria appropriate to age of the patients served in assigned area/department. The skills and knowledge to provide such care is gained through education, training, and/or experience. Preferred Qualification: None JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS 1. PCA II & Extern Unlicensed 7. Perform routine tasks under the supervision of license nurse 8. Empty bedpans and change dirty linens. 9. Follow proper procedures for lifting and moving patients. 10. Maintain glucometer competency 11. Maintain sterile technique during sterile procedures 12. Exemplifies Spirit of Excellence. 13. Refers to policies and procedures when appropriate. 14. Reports observation of changes in patients condition promptly and accurately to care giver or shift manager. 15. Assis ts caregivers in performing routine elements of patient care and patients of all ages. 16. Performs daily assigned duties \, i.e., linen, water, dirty utility room, routine work station clearing , etc. in timely manner. 17. Schedule s and completes tasks within allotted time frame. 18.
