The physician will perform clinical cardiac electrophysiology duties, including history and physical examinations, consultation, and treatment for adult patients with heart rhythm disorders, utilizing one dedicated and one fully capable EP lab. This role also involves performing some General Cardiology patient care and potentially outreach to other system locations.
Applicants must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree, complete a minimum 3-year Internal Medicine residency and a 3-year Cardiology fellowship, plus an additional 12-month accredited Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology training program. Candidates must demonstrate recent experience performing at least 50 ICD/permanent pacemaker placements and 25 ablations within the past 24 months.
Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Core Privileges include the ability to perform history and physical examination, admit, evaluate, treat, and provide consultation to acute and chronically ill adult patients presenting with variety of heart rhythm disorders. Qualifications M.D. or D.O. degree. Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways: An applicant who has just completed a fellowship shall provide his/her fellowship log, which should meet the required COCATs training for specialized electrophysiology, cardiac pacing, and arrhythmia management. OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. For Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology skills, applicant must be able to demonstrate that he/she has successfully performed 50 ICD/permanent pacemaker placements and 25 ablations in the past 24 months. OR If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s hospital-based clinical activity for the past 24 months is required. For Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology skills, applicant must be able to demonstrate that he/she has successfully performed 50 ICD/permanent pacemaker placements and 25 ablations in the past 24 months.
