The practitioner will provide adult rehabilitative mental health services focusing on instructing, assisting, and supporting recipients in basic living and social skills to help restore their ability to manage illness and live independently. Duties include providing skills training, assessment, treatment planning, and monitoring in one-to-one and group formats across various settings, while maintaining detailed progress records.
Candidates must meet one of the DHS standards for a Behavioral Health Practitioner, which involves either having 30 semester hours in behavioral health plus 2000 supervised hours, 4000 supervised hours in the delivery area, or holding a master's or graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields. Required abilities include strong written and interpersonal communication, clinical judgment, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams.
Description The ARMHS staff will provide adult rehabilitative mental health services that instruct, assist, and support the recipient in basic living and social skills. These activities are to help restore a recipient’s skills for managing his or her illness and everyday independent living. The service areas would include interpersonal communication skills, community resource utilization and integration skills, crisis assistance, relapse prevention skills, health care directives, budgeting and shopping skills, healthy lifestyle skills and practices, cooking and nutrition skills, transportation skills, medication education and monitoring, mental illness symptom management skills, household management skills, employment-related skills, and transition to community living services.

Education and Experience: Meets ONE of the standards for Behavioral Health Practitioner per DHS guidelines as listed below:
Have at least 30 Semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral health or related fields from an accredited college or university and have at least 2000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorder OR Have at least 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery area of services with adults with mental illness, traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorder OR Has a master's or other graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields.
Hear and speak to use telephones and communicate with people inside and outside the office. Be able to travel to recipient's location Visual ability to review detailed reports and information, and to use the computer for keyboarding. Must be able to manage stairs and ambulate freely to access clients in their home if needed.
The employee must be willing to transport clients in their own vehicles, work in clients’ home appropriately, and interact with clients in the community. Provide services in-person and via telehealth.
