The physician will primarily manage occupational injury care, focusing on complex injuries and workers' compensation claims, including fitness for duty evaluations and claims oversight. Responsibilities also involve collaboration with internal teams like Safety and ERGO, and occasionally filling in for APP coverage.
Candidates must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree and be licensed by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners prior to the start date. Experience in Occupational Medicine is preferred, and Advanced Life Support credentialing from the AHA is a plus.
Occupational Injury care with main focus on difficult injuries and workcomp claims. Fitness for Duty evaluations Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. WorkComp claims management and oversight, not limited to causality statements, MMI/PPD, Collaboration with specialists Internal collaboration with Safety, ERGO etc. at the spot Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients. Fill in regular clinic duties on occasion with APP PTO, Sickness and Vacancies. Accepts patient referrals from other physicians. Acts as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital. Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested. Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner. Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules. What You Will Need Licensure/Certification/Registration: Licensed Graduate Doctoral Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.
