The ICU RN is responsible for patient assignments in the Intensive Care Unit, utilizing current best practices and directing ancillary personnel under the supervision of the Director of Critical Care and Educator. Essential functions include accurate charting, patient and family education, timely supply charging, and participation in unit activities and professional growth.
Candidates must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire and be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a Bachelor of Science preferred. Required experience includes 1-2 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting, and 2 years of ICU experience is preferred, along with current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Under the direction of the Director of Critical Care and Educator, the ICU RN assumes responsibility for a patient assignment on the Intensive Care Unit. The RN utilizes and acquires knowledge of current and best practices in patient care. The RN retains the responsibility for the direction and guidance of ancillary personnel within the unit. The RN works to support the five pillars of excellence: people, quality, service, finance and growth.
The RN understands and adheres to all LRH and department specific policies and procedures as well as to practice standards set forth in the New Hampshire Nurse Practice Act. This position will support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of Littleton Regional Healthcare and demonstrates a commitment to quality service to patients, the public, coworkers and physicians.
Essential Functions: · Employs written policies and procedures according to the LRH Nursing Department
· Provides complete and accurate charting of care and interventions, provided to facilitate high quality of care across the patient continuum
· Provides education to patients and their families
· Works to include the patient and family in plan of care for the patient
· Works as a team with other members of the Intensive Care Unit to ensure that patient supplies are charged for in a timely manner
· Exhibits excellent customer service
· Works consistently to improve the customer experience
· Participates in orientation of new personnel
· Floats and/or is cross trained to work in other areas of the Nursing Division
· Recognizes educational needs and facilities own professional growth
· Participates in in-house education programs
· Promotes patient safety
· Performs independently and functions in a professional manner
· Completes assigned applicable competencies in a timely manner
· Able to manage multiple priorities
· Attends unit staff meetings
· Participates in annual performance appraisal of self with Nurse Manager in a timely manner
Reports to: Director of Critical Care Services/ Educator
A Registered Nurse directs by licensure, all nursing activities performed by ancillary staff assigned to the unit. Numbers supervised varies according to patient census and acuity.

Frequent multi-tasking and prioritization of multiple patient needs is ongoing. Exposed to all patient elements; including exposure to human waste, blood and bodily fluid as well as hazardous substances is unavoidable.
