The Referral and Authorizations Specialist manages the planning, implementation, and follow-up of patient referrals generated by primary care physicians, developing a comprehensive reference file of referral sources and serving as a resource for staff. Essential duties include timely scheduling of appointments, processing referrals according to strict timelines (e.g., within 24 hours for urgent cases), and thoroughly documenting all referral efforts and outcomes.
Candidates must possess strong oral and written communication skills, be detail-oriented, and demonstrate the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced setting, requiring strong organization and prioritization skills. A minimum of one year of referral experience is required, along with a high school diploma or equivalent.
