The Cytologist is responsible for preparing, screening, and evaluating non-gynecologic cytology specimens, such as body fluids and fine needle aspirations, to identify cellular abnormalities, infections, or malignancies. This role involves close collaboration with pathologists to deliver timely and accurate diagnostic information for patient care.
A Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent, along with successful completion of a CAHEA-approved Cytology Training Program, is required. ASCP registration and strong knowledge of cellular morphology are necessary, while 3 years of non-gynecologic cytology experience is preferred.
The Cytologist is responsible for preparing, screening, and evaluating non-gynecologic cytology specimens (e.g., body fluids, fine needle aspirations, and other non-cervical samples) to detect cellular abnormalities, infections, inflammatory processes, and malignancies. The cytologist works closely with pathologists to provide accurate and timely diagnostic information to guide patient care.
