The Clinical Nurse provides direct patient care on Medical/Surgical units according to the Nurse Practice Act, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure safe and timely quality care delivery. This involves performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing pain, and addressing patient teaching and discharge needs.
The role requires utilizing the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient needs, including evaluation and adjustment of the care process as necessary. Nurses must also confer with appropriate resources when facing ethical, legal, or medical dilemma decisions.
The Clinical Nurse role provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act to assigned patients on Medical/Surgical units. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned. Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions. Performs other duties as assigned.
