The Patient Care Technician provides culturally sensitive and developmentally appropriate basic patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities include direct support to nursing staff, monitoring patient condition changes, operating basic medical equipment, and assisting patients with hygiene needs.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and up to six months of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and training. A current Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification is required, or it must be obtained during the orientation period.
Under the leadership of the departmental Nursing Director and the supervision of a licensed nurse, the Patient Care Technician provides culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate patient care. The Patient Care Technician works under close supervision of a licensed nurse and performs a variety of basic patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs of patients.
• Education:
Requires and maintains a certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS). (If BLS certification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within the orientation period.)
