About this unit 7 South is a 22 bed Progressive Neuroscience unit located within Butterworth Hospital.
This unit specializes in the care of stroke and adult epilepsy patients.
As an accredited comprehensive stroke center, we have the ability to receive and treat the most complex stroke cases.
Additionally, our epilepsy program performs a range of EEG monitoring from routine up to surgical implantation.
Although this is a specialized unit, there is still a lot to learn due to the variety of conditions patients can have in addition to their stroke.
Teamwork on this unit is known to be exceptional.
Members of 7 South team assist each other in any way they can giving this unit a very welcoming and warm atmosphere.

Scope of work Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.
Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
