The Anesthetist responds to patient anesthetic needs, coordinating care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases under the direction of an anesthesiologist. Responsibilities include formulating the anesthetic plan, administering anesthesia for procedures, performing special line placements, and maintaining age-specific technical competence.
A Master's Degree in Nurse Anesthesia is required, though CRNAs who graduated before December 31, 2003, from an accredited program may be accepted in lieu of the Master's degree. Candidates must possess SC RN-Advance Practice and CRNA-Nurse Anesthetist certifications/registrations.
