The Ultrasound Technologist performs general, OB-GYN, and vascular exams on patients of all ages, ensuring images meet acceptable diagnostic quality standards. Key duties involve applying anatomical knowledge to acquire required images, adjusting to changing circumstances, ensuring patient comfort and safety, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited ultrasound program and possess current American Heart Association BLS or ACLS certification. Registration eligibility or current registration with ARDMS, ARRT-Ultrasound, or CCI is required, with registry completion mandatory within six months of hire if registry eligible.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Applies knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology, and critical thinking to implement appropriate imaging techniques using established protocols to acquire required images. Adjusts to changing or unusual circumstances and cares for patients and families in a variety of settings to ensure their comfort and safety. Applies critical thinking skills and ensures order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients. Completes documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy or procedure including proper image management and accurate documentation in electronic medical record. Practices safety at all times, which includes adhering to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles for proper radiation safety for team members and patients using mobilization and immobilization devices, following safe patient handling practices, following infection prevention practices (proper personal protective equipment), and following hand hygiene to comply with government agencies or other regulatory bodies. Assists providers in diagnostic and interventional procedures.
