The sonographer performs technical, patient-attending, and clerical duties related to echocardiography, including obtaining, measuring, and recording study data using various Doppler and imaging techniques. Key tasks involve visualizing heart anatomy, assessing valves for pathology, notifying cardiologists of critical findings, and maintaining equipment and supplies.
Candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience in adult or pediatric echocardiography, along with successful completion of an accredited ultrasound/vascular technology education program specializing in echocardiography or equivalent experience. Required certifications include Registered Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, and Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
Performs variety of technical, patient-attending, and clerical duties pertaining to echocardiography.
