Substance Abuse Counselors are responsible for completing comprehensive assessments, preparing individualized treatment plans, and providing individual and group counseling and educational programs. They must also document treatment progress, maintain records, perform case management, and contribute to client care monitoring.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education/experience, along with a minimum of 100 hours of documented clinical training. Required credentials include current CADC certification or higher licensure (LPC, LSW) in the hiring state, and a minimum of two years of experience in substance abuse or mental health counseling.
