Key Responsibilities Triage and Diagnosis: Serves as a Medical Officer in the Emergency Room (ER), receiving patients with diverse and complex conditions. Exercises significant independent judgment to accurately diagnose and treat patients presenting with indistinct or overlapping symptoms. Critical Decision-Making: Makes immediate, critical decisions and initiates treatment for difficult emergency cases, including heart attacks, head injuries, lacerations, seizures, and other life-threatening conditions. Direct Patient Treatment: Treats the physical condition of the patient (e.g., administers intravenous fluids for heat exhaustion, prescribes medication) or recognizes and refers patients to a specialist for further diagnosis and treatment when necessary. Surgical Procedures: Performs minor surgery as required, such as incision and drainage (I&D) of abscesses, I&D of hemorrhoids, and suturing lacerations. Leadership and Supervision: Instructs and supervises other medical personnel in the care and treatment of patients, serving as a Senior Specialist and mentor within the department. Medication Management: Administers and prescribes appropriate medicine and treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs. Record Keeping: Accurately records all relevant medical data and case history in the Composite Health Care System (CHCS). Performs other duties as assigned.
US Citizenship required Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited medical school.
Completion of an accredited residency in emergency medicine.
