The NP/PA evaluates and manages patients with neurologic and sleep-related disorders, providing comprehensive clinical care. This includes developing treatment plans, interpreting diagnostic studies, and coordinating care with other specialists.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited NP or PA program with current certification and state licensure. Prior experience or specialized training in neurology or sleep medicine is preferred.
Neurology and Sleep Medicine Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (NP/PA)Position Summary The Neurology and Sleep Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides comprehensive clinical care to patients with neurologic and sleep-related disorders. Working collaboratively with neurologists, sleep medicine physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams, this role supports diagnosis, treatment, and longitudinal management of patients in outpatient and inpatient settings, delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care. Evaluate and manage patients with neurologic conditions such as headache disorders, seizures, neuropathy, movement disorders, cognitive disorders, and multiple sclerosis, consistent with scope of practice Evaluate and manage patients with sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, hypersomnia, restless legs syndrome, and circadian rhythm disorders Perform comprehensive histories, neurologic examinations, and sleep assessments Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians Interpret diagnostic studies such as EEGs, EMGs, neuroimaging, and sleep studies as appropriate Manage positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy and other sleep-related treatments Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and lifestyle modification Coordinate care with primary care providers, behavioral health, pulmonology, and other specialists Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives Supervise or collaborate with clinical staff and learners as applicable Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Current NP or PA certification and state licensure Eligibility for hospital credentialing and privileging DEA registration or eligibility Prior experience or specialized training in neurology or sleep medicine preferred Skills and Competencies Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills Knowledge of neurologic and sleep-related disorders Ability to manage chronic and complex conditions Excellent communication and patient education skills Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centered care Work Environment Outpatient neurology and sleep clinics, hospital inpatient units, and sleep laboratories Schedule may include clinic hours, limited inpatient responsibilities, and/or on-call coverage depending on practice needs Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout clinical environments Manual dexterity for examinations and clinical procedures Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and interpretation of diagnostic data
