The role involves ensuring all equipment is cleaned, inspected, tested, and maintained according to sterile technique principles to support the caseload. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting equipment issues, taking corrective action when technique breaks occur, and managing necessary documentation for compliance.
Candidates must possess knowledge of sterile techniques, infection prevention, and proper handling of toxic chemicals and waste according to regulations. A High School Diploma or GED is required, and one year of sterile processing experience along with a Certified Sterile Processor Certification are preferred.
