The Physical Therapist Assistant administers scheduled physical therapy treatments, performing exercises, massage, mobilization, and stretching under the direction of a Physical Therapist. Responsibilities also include instructing participants in functional activities, providing gait training, and measuring physical parameters to aid in evaluation and program effectiveness.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in a human services or related field, in addition to graduating from an accredited PTA program and passing the required exam. A current PTA license in the state of work is mandatory, and the role involves heavy physical work, occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force.
