This role involves assisting with the technical aspects of research studies and experiments, including data collection, preparation of solutions, and setup and maintenance of equipment. Responsibilities also include performing data entry, maintaining data files, preparing tissue cultures and reagents, and ensuring laboratory cleanliness and safety compliance.
A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required, although no specific work experience or professional license is mandatory for this position. The ideal candidate will possess up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting.

The Zolkind Lab is a translational head and neck cancer lab investigating novel models of treatment resistance and therapeutic targets. This is a "bench-to-bedside" lab incorporating cell culture, mouse models and human tumor specimens. The lab operates closely with the Major and Goldfarb labs and provides a rich environment of education with weekly lab meetings and education seminars. There are numerous scientists, postdocs, and students in the lab and this provides ample opportunity to learn, grow, and develop new techniques and expertise in this position. Depending on candidate interest, there are also opportunities for clinical exposure in the clinic and operating room. Assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.
Job Description: Primary
Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment. Performs data entry and maintains data files on research. Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc. Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions. Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures. Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions: This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
