Under the direct supervision of a Licensed Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician completes various Pharmacy tasks, services, and manages daily pharmacy operations according to established guidelines. This role involves preparing medication profiles, filling automated dispensing machines, handling phone calls, and maintaining necessary records.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent along with a California State Pharmacy Technician license. The position requires the ability to work efficiently under State Board of Pharmacy guidelines, exercise judgment, understand knowledge limitations, communicate professionally, and maintain high accuracy and confidentiality.

POPULATION SERVED The position involves direct patient care for a population of patients between the ages of 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is required to serve this population.
Under the direct supervision of a Licensed Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician completes a variety of Pharmacy tasks and services and is responsible for the daily operations of the pharmacy within established policies and guidelines of the Pharmacy Department. This position does not provide direct care to patients.
Working knowledge of aseptic technique and ability to prepare sterile IV products Working knowledge of current drug dosage forms, strengths, generic and trade name Ability to read, understand and transcribe pharmaceutical information, perform pharmacy calculations and maintain efficiency and accuracy Must be able to work effectively under the direction of licensed pharmacist Prepares patient medication profiles from physician orders Filling and managing inventory of the automated dispensing machine (Pyxis) Answering phone calls from nurses, physicians or other hospital personnel Record keeping Advise Director of malfunctioning equipment, maintenance problems, and any unusual situations, occurrences Performs other related duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and CA State Pharmacy Technician license. Must work efficiently under broad guidelines established by the State Board of Pharmacy for supportive personnel and must frequently exercise judgment in decision making. Must understand the limitations of his/her drug knowledge, and must be able to communicate effectively both personally and professionally. Must possess the ability to handle information in a confidential manner and maintain a high degree of accuracy. Ability to maintain assigned work hours: Requires endurance to perform tasks over long periods of work hours.
