The technologist coordinates and performs diagnostic radiography procedures, ensuring high image quality, technical accuracy, and continuity of patient care. This includes assessing patient conditions, recording pertinent data, and maintaining patient safety and comfort.
Candidates must be graduates from a School of Radiologic Technology, registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and hold required radiologic certification. Professional requirements include meeting dress code standards, maintaining confidentiality, demonstrating strong initiative, and adhering to hospital policies.
Description Shift: Weekend
Coordinates and performs diagnostic radiography procedures to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care.
Assesses patient condition as to the procedure to be done. Reviews each exam for technical accuracy and strives to ensure high Image quality. Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images, and ensures proper film identification. Records pertinent data on Radiologic requisitions at all time (Pt. Number; symptoms; diagnosis). Shows strong patient care skills. Prompt and courteous. Ability to coordinate workload with minimal supervision. Demonstrates knowledge of film quality and ability to repeat film as needed. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital-related information. Establishes and maintains a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with department staff, physicians, hospital staff, patients and visitors. Performs other duties as assigned, transporter, darkroom tech, secretary, etc. Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations to ensure exam documentation and charges. Demonstrates proper response and reliability for “On Call” coverage. Identifies each patient and reviews each patients requisition for exam consistency and clinical diagnosis. Coordinates radiographic examination to ensure quality and continuity of patient care and assists with the management of the workflow in absence of supervisor. Participates in the orientation and training of new employees, healthcare professionals and students. Ensures proper patient safety, comfort and care through use of support devices. Demonstrates ability to organize patient care and set priorities by providing critical care first through implementation of physician’s orders. Ability to work under the direct supervision of the Radiologist.
Professional Requirements: Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean. Completes annual education requirements. Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time. Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly. Attends mandatory meetings; attends and/or reads minutes of other scheduled meetings. Supports the Mission and goals of JCMH and department for quality patient care. Respects patient confidentiality and uses discretion in discussion of patient information. Recognizes when others are in need of assistance and consistently offers to help when own workload permits or finds someone who can. Assists Managers/Supervisors with scheduling/workload needs. Demonstrates courteous behavior and telephone etiquette through polite and respectful communication with all patients, guests, and co-workers. Follows hospital and departmental requirements for infection control and safety. Demonstrates evidence of maintaining professional knowledge and skills (competency) and shows initiative. Regulatory Requirements and Education: Graduate from a School of Radiologic Technology. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist. Radiologic certification required.
