The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing direct rehabilitation care upon physician referral, which includes performing evaluations, completing care plans, establishing goals, and frequently communicating with Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs). Duties also involve working closely with patients and families to plan for short and long-term goals, monitoring patient movements to prevent further injury, and charting daily progress and treatment times.
Candidates must be able to perform all essential functions of occupational therapy, including evaluations, care planning, and implementing treatment while adhering to all applicable laws and regulations. Essential physical requirements include the ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds, safely transfer patients, and utilize good body mechanics at all times.
Must be able to perform Occupational Therapy Evaluations, complete care plans, establish goals, and communicate frequently with OTA’s who will assist in implementing the above Work closely with patients, family members and other care team members to adequately plan for patient needs, to include short term and long term goals Verify patient information and confirm purpose of treatment Monitor each movement to ensure the patient is performing them properly to avoid new/further injuries Effectively communicates with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans Chart appropriately and daily, to include therapy notes, treatment times and labor hours Assist patients in recovery and improving skills needed for daily functionalities Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions Must utilize good body mechanics at all times Must be able to make safe, independent decisions when circumstances arise Must be knowledgeable of occupational therapy policies and procedures as well as the laws and regulations Must utilize good body mechanics at all times Understand and comply with company policies Must be able to assist in the evacuation of patients Must demonstrate dependability and regular attendance Must have excellent customer service, clinical skill, and communication and positive attitude Be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds, safely transfer patients, and participate in staff training related to safe patient handling Must demonstrate dependability and regular attendance Must be able to work effectively and productively Education and Certification Requirement Current OT License CPR/BLS Certification Active Fingerprint card Qualifications
