The technologist performs diagnostic Ultrasound exams following established procedures, which includes verifying patient identity, updating medical history, explaining procedures, acquiring appropriate images, and communicating initial observations to the radiologist. Responsibilities also involve responding to medical emergencies, providing post-care instructions, and participating in process improvement activities.
Candidates must be registered by ARMDS or ARRT in Sonography and must obtain American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification by the end of the orientation period. Registration in a specialty area is required within 12 months of employment.
