The Peer Support Specialist facilitates individual and group meetings to promote recovery, offering education and instilling hope, while also serving as a role model and actively participating in care coordination efforts. Key duties include organizing peer support activities, attending treatment team meetings to share patient information, and fulfilling other assigned duties.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have experiential understanding of substance use disorders and/or mental illness. Certification as a Peer Support Specialist is required where mandated by contract or statute, and passing the facility's background check is mandatory.
