The Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care under the direction of a physician or Advanced Practice Provider in an ambulatory setting, which includes gathering patient data, assisting during examinations, and providing routine treatments. Essential functions also involve documenting patient data, processing calls, entering orders into the electronic medical system, and participating in quality improvement activities.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and successfully complete Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school or possess at least one year of verifiable Medical Assistant work experience. Required certifications include current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification and current certification or registration from a recognized Medical Assistant agency.
