The Radiation Therapist is responsible for accurately delivering prescribed radiation therapy treatments according to the treatment plan, verifying patient setup, and operating specialized oncology equipment like linear accelerators and CT simulators. This role also involves monitoring patients during treatment, administering contrast media when necessary, and maintaining accurate treatment records while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards.
Candidates must have completed high school/GED, possess ARRT registration, and hold current CPR BLS certification, along with a minimum of two years of relevant inpatient experience. Functional knowledge of linear accelerators, CT simulators, and various radiation dosimetry equipment is required, with experience using Elekta equipment being preferred.

Accurately delivers prescribed radiation therapy per treatment plan, protocols, and safety standards with minimal supervision Confirms patient identity, reviews treatment charts, and verifies setup, dosing, and imaging prior to treatment Prepares treatment rooms and equipment and positions patients according to approved treatment plans Operates linear accelerators, CT simulators, diode systems, QA dosimeters, and related computer systems Communicates treatment procedures, expectations, and Radiation Oncologist guidance to patients Monitors patients during treatment using visual and audio systems and responds to side effects or emergencies as needed Administers contrast media as required and obtains/document patient history related to treatment or contrast use Maintains accurate treatment records, billing documentation, and completes required electronic or written forms Performs port films, localization verification, and supports simulation procedures under physician direction Follows all radiation safety, infection control, and departmental regulatory standards Reports equipment issues or supply needs and assists with departmental cleanliness and organization Demonstrates professionalism, patient-centered care, flexibility with scheduling, and teamwork across the department
Completion of high school/GED required but Bachelors degree preferred Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) CPR BLS certification required 2 years of relevant experience in an inpatient setting. Functional knowledge of, linear accelerators, CT simulator, computer equipment, printers, various radiation dosimeters, diode system, automatic film processors.
