Performs basic nursing procedures and treatments in patient homes under the direction of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring patient responses, and participating in the development of care plans.
Requires current licensure with the Michigan State Board of Nursing and at least two years of current nursing experience. Candidates must hold a current CPR certification and a valid driver's license with auto insurance.
Performs nursing procedures/treatments in the home within scope of practice. Works under the direction of the registered professional nurse. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 1. Performs a variety of basic nursing procedures under the direction of a registered nurse which may include, but are not limited to, wound care, wound irrigations, medication administration, catheterization, range of motion exercises and glucose monitoring. 2. If the LPN is appropriately qualified, prepares and administers oral, rectal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal and topical medications to patients per policy and procedure. Observes patient response to medication, records unexpected reactions and reports them to the registered nurse. 3. Identifies common patient problems, symptoms and reactions through monitoring 4. Participates in the development, review and evaluation of the plan of care appropriate to the age of the patient in conjunction with the registered nurse. 5. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy and expresses interest in the patient progress. 6. Provides for the physical and emotional comfort of the patient as well as a safe home environment.
