The Licensed Practical Nurse participates in the implementation and evaluation of detainees/inmates’ health care needs and provides comprehensive nursing care while observing security requirements. Primary duties include developing nursing care plans, performing assessments, administering medications, and documenting patient interactions.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing school and hold a current, unrestricted LPN license in the state of employment. Two years of direct work experience is preferred, along with competencies in crisis intervention and medical nursing care.

Develop nursing care plans with guidance from the RN. Perform complete physical assessment and medical history. Provide nursing care within your capacity and refer other medical problems to the appropriate physician. Make sure prescribed medications are administered as instructed. Periodically evaluate patients' symptoms, reactions, and progress, and report problems to management. Securely administer medication, taking precautions against drug hoarding and trafficking. Follow industry and company accreditation policies. Document all detainee/inmate contacts and keep medical records confidential.
