Assist the surgeon(s) by providing basic instrumentation and sterile techniques for procedures performed in the Operating Room. Provide patient care in the clinical setting and maintain surgical equipment and instrumentation.
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with graduation from a surgical technologist program. Certification from NBSTSA, NCCT, or AST is necessary within one year of hire, along with BLS certification.
All Age Groups.
1. Strong working knowledge of patient care and basic human needs throughout the life span. 2. In depth knowledge of medical terminology. 3. Strong working knowledge of acute and chronic disease processes. 4. Knowledge of computer programs used in perioperative services. 5. Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team. 6. Demonstrates a willingness to learn new methods, procedures and techniques resulting from departmental or organization change. 7. Adapts quickly and easily to change and adjusted behavior and approach to work when necessary to achieve goals.
Certification from NBSTSA, NCCT, or AST within 1 year of date of hire/transfer. BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
