The Med Technician is responsible for providing support and care to meet the physical and psychological needs of consumers. This includes medication administration, monitoring medication errors, and maintaining a safe patient care environment.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma and state certification as a Medication Aide/Technician. IDD experience is preferred, and reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Responsible for providing support and care to meet the physical and psychological needs of consumers through providing direct and indirect care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Essential
Medication administration under the supervision of Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, monitors medication errors, monitors pharmacy stock and medical/office supplies. Carries out medical orders under the supervision of a nurse; verifies receipt; stocks items. Keeps medical and office equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Performs UDS, COVID testing, pregnancy testing; disposing of contaminated supplies; sanitizing medical instruments and equipment Verifies patient information by interviewing patients; performing health screenings, reviewing and recording medical observations and history; taking vital signs. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns. Includes completing medical records by recording patient examination/observations, treatment, response to treatment, discharge plan and test results. Maintains patient confidence and protects medical office/unit operations by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches. Prepares patients for appt / rounds in person or via telemed with medical prescribers. Improves medical assisting, knowledge of MH/SA/IDD populations and services and medical job knowledge by attending training sessions; reading technical publications, attending staff meetings and supervision meetings All other duties as assigned by center director or other senior management Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
