This position provides real-time pharmacotherapy expertise and bedside support within the Emergency Department to ensure safe and effective medication use. The specialist collaborates with emergency medicine providers, manages formulary initiatives, and participates in the education of pharmacy learners.
Candidates must hold a PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and have completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency with at least 5 years of progressive clinical experience. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS, along with eligibility for licensure by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
JOB SUMMARY This position supports clinical pharmacy services in the Emergency Department (ED), providing real-time pharmacotherapy expertise in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The ED specialist collaborates with emergency medicine providers to ensure safe and effective medication use, supports rapid response, codes, and contributes to departmental initiatives focused on ED care. Responsibilities include bedside support, medication reconciliation, therapeutic interventions, and precepting pharmacy learners in the ED setting. Non-direct patient care activities may include cost savings initiatives, committee involvement, and participation in departmental projects and practice advancement efforts.
