Provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, and social activities for residents in an assisted living environment. Facilitate communication using American Sign Language and monitor the health and safety of residents throughout the shift.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and proficiency in American Sign Language. A valid driver's license and a safe driving record are mandatory, with Certified Nurses Aide training preferred.

Assist elderly individuals who are functionally, physically, and or socially impaired and need 24 hour oversight. The role is to assist residents with those activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without help, fostering at all times residents ' independence and freedom of choice. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of assisted living.
High School Diploma or GED required. Certified Nurses Aide or equivalent training preferred. Valid and current driver 's license. Safe driving record required. Sign language fluency as demonstrated by sign communication proficiency interview (or be culturally deaf and utilize ASL as a primary language), Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of deafness and deaf culture/community.
Exposure to body wastes, discharges and odors.
Occasional exposure to hazards which could cause serious illness or injury (body waste, infectious diseases.)
(As required by plan of care: Activities of Daily Living/Personal Care: Provide "hands on" assistance for individuals who require assistance in carrying out basic activities of daily living. (May include assistance in bathing, positioning, dressing, personal hygiene, transferring, ambulation and providing for the physical comfort of the recipient.) Assist individuals in laundry and light housekeeping, shopping, activities, and socialization experiences. Escort residents to and from appointments, program and community experiences. Provides non-medical care, supervision and assistance with recreational and social activities. Trains and assists residents in constructive use of leisure time. Supervises, assists and trains residents in all aspects of self care and independent living skills depending on the capabilities of the client and individual plan of care. Assistance with preparation of meals, dining/feeding, dressing, grooming, and housekeeping chores (such as bed making, dusting and vacuuming which are essential to the health and welfare of the individual served). Performs and documents routine health care functions. Report behavioral, personal or social problems to supervisor. Knows the whereabouts of their assigned clients throughout their shift and assists support personnel in locating missing client(s). Empties and cleans drainage bags, urinals and bedpans as needed. Observes and reports any unusual symptoms or change in clients condition to supervisor. Assists in interpreting written and verbal information to residents. Observes and makes entries in clients record of any significant or unusual activities. Reports unusual incidences, behavioral problems, etc. to proper supervisory personnel. Completes incident reports as indicated. Actively carries out building safety routines, takes initiative to correct safety hazards and reports hazards to proper supervisory personnel. Assists in maintaining an orderly, sanitary and well organized environment. Assists residents with self administration of medications including monitoring of medication supplies and documentation. Facilitates communication (ASL). Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of deafness, deaf? blindness, deaf culture as well as the aging process. Attends and participates in staff meetings. Participates in in-services, projects or committees as assigned. Assists with quality assurance programs when indicated. Provides counseling and crisis intervention services for clients.
