Under the direction of a licensed Pharmacist, the technician prepares, packages, and labels medications, including IVs and unit doses, ensuring accuracy through mathematical calculations and maintaining a sterile environment. Responsibilities also include delivering medications, processing controlled substances, collecting unused medications, and responding to employee inquiries.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and be licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan by October 1, 2015. Prior pharmacy experience or formal training, including knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology, is preferred, as is certification.
