The dentist will perform comprehensive dental examinations, diagnoses, and treatment planning for patients at the Orlando VA Healthcare System. They are also responsible for providing preventive and therapeutic dental care, including surgical procedures and emergency treatments.
Candidates must hold a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree and possess an active, unrestricted dental license in any U.S. state. Additionally, they must maintain current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and meet all VA credentialing and privileging requirements.
Perform comprehensive dental examinations, diagnoses, and treatment planning Provide preventive and therapeutic dental care for diseases and conditions of the oral cavity and related structures Perform procedures including, but not limited to: Minimal oral sedation/anxiolysis (single agent) Treatment of caries, defective restorations, and traumatic dental injuries Fixed and removable prosthodontics Implant restorations and implant‑retained dentures Non‑surgical endodontic therapy Gingivectomy and gingivoplasty Simple and surgical extractions, alveoplasty, and socket preservation Minor pre‑prosthetic soft and hard tissue surgery Oral biopsies (<1 cm) Emergency dental treatment Management of oral pathology and oral medicine cases Non‑surgical management of temporomandibular disorders Occlusal adjustments Post‑mortem dental exams for identification purposes Document all care in accordance with VA policies and standards Participate in patient safety protocols and staff meetings as required
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) Current, active, and unrestricted dental license in any U.S. state or territory Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Must meet VA credentialing and privileging requirements Ability to work on‑site and travel to outpatient clinics as needed No services may be provided prior to full VA credentialing and approval by the Professional Standards Board, Medical Executive Board, and Medical Center Director All candidates must be able to: Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist Lift up to 20 lbs Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance Push/pull with 30 lbs of force All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
