• Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center has an opening for a Per-Diem Licensed Practical Nurse in our Emergency Department.
• The Float Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency department under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility, and responsibility indicative of professional expectations.
• Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system.
• Communicates with medical providers about changes in patient’s status, symptoms, and results of diagnostic studies.
• Is able to respond quickly, and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
• The role provides services that meet the patient’s psychosocial and physical care requirements in accordance with Southern Coos Health District standards of care.
• The LPN will also assist with facilitating the running of the emergency department by performing clerical duties, telemetry monitoring and organizational duties.
• The LPN provides care, as defined in the Oregon State Board of Nursing scope of practice.

Skills, Knowledge, & Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of an accredited LPN nursing program is required.
• Current licensure in Oregon as an LPN is required.
• Have and maintain Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) Certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required, it can be obtained within six months of the hire date.
• Successful completion of arrhythmia class is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a drive to provide exceptional service.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
