The Patient Care Tech provides direct patient care under the direction of a healthcare provider, including obtaining vital signs and recording patient history. They also facilitate clinic workflow by performing clerical tasks, managing patient records, and maintaining exam areas.
Candidates must hold relevant certifications such as CNA, EMT, or Paramedic licensure, or be enrolled in an accredited nursing program. One year of experience in a healthcare-related field is required for levels II and III.
Patient Care Tech I: Completion of Medical Surgical Nursing One AND enrolled in an accredited Nursing Program. Patient Care Tech II: Completion of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant program and must pass both sections of the Certified Nursing Assistant/Nurse Aide competency evaluation examination (i.e., CNA Exam). Current License with the State of Colorado. OR Completion of an accredited Patient Care Technician program and passing the National Center for Competency Testing Exam for Patient Care Technicians (i.e., NCCT). Current License with the State of Colorado. OR Completion of an accredited Emergency Medical Technician program and passing the National Certification Exam (i.e., NREMT). Current License with the State of Colorado. One (1) year of experience in a healthcare-related field. Patient Care Tech III: Completion of an accredited Paramedic Certification program and passing the National Certification Exam (i.e., NREMT). Current License with the State of Colorado. One (1) year of experience in a healthcare-related field. Substitution (All Levels): A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. We are unable to provide work visa sponsorship or employment authorization for this position now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications (All Levels): Associate’s degree. One or more (1+) years of experience in a medical office/hospital setting. Medical office experience in area of specialty. EPIC and Kronos experience. Bilingual, Spanish-speaking. MS Office: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word. Conditions of Employment (All Levels): Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross healthcare provider-level CPR certification Maintains all required licensure and certifications for the position. Must be able to work in-person. Must be able to travel to alternate locations as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (All Levels): Strong organizational and personal skills. Strong medical terminology knowledge and skills. Strong knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 procedures. Strong knowledge of value-based care and risk-based coding procedures. Strong knowledge of medication and injection procedures. Ability to safely administer a variety of treatments and medications as directed. Ability to use various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures. Ability to accurately take and record vital signs. Ability to accurately reconcile patient medications. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions. Ability to adhere to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.

Anticipated Pay Range: The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as: Patient Care Tech I: $44,116 to $51,527 Patient Care Tech II: $47,813 to $55,846 Patient Care Tech III: $49,772 to $58,134 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
