Assist providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures, including performing visual function tests and taking medical histories. Handle administrative tasks and educate patients on the proper use of medications and contact lenses.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and previous experience in a medical support role such as a medical assistant or scribe. Proficiency with EMR and MS Office tools is required, while specific ophthalmic experience is a plus.
What You Will Do: Take medical histories and verify information Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications Explain how to properly use contact lenses Assist with inventory management
What You Will Bring: High school diploma or GED certificate Previous experience in the medical field in roles such as a medical assistant, medical scribe, patient care technician, nursing assistant, pharmacy technician etc. Experience with EMR tools Proficient with MS Office tools (outlook, excel, word) Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is a plus $19 an hour minimum Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience.
