The Radiologic Technology Student assists technologists with patient care, radiology exams, and procedures under supervision. They are also responsible for maintaining equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. The position is suitable for first-year radiology students with less than one year of experience.

Job Summary The Radiologic Technologist Student works under a certified Radiology Technologist's supervision. They assist with patient care and support functions during radiology exams and procedures. They process x-ray studies for clinician interpretation. Additional duties include inventory, storage of supplies, and cleaning imaging rooms for the next patient. Essential Functions of the Role Prepares patient for exam or procedure and assists technologist, nurse, or physician. Maintains patient and staff confidentiality at all times. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions. Demonstrates an understanding of radiation dose reference levels and monitoring. Takes action if the estimated dose exceeds set levels. Takes action when the reference level is exceeded, which may include patient follow-up. Verifies the patient's identification using two forms of ID as outlined in hospital policies using AIDET. Operates and maintains equipment safely and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Maintains a clean and serviceable work environment to enhance patient care. Maintains enough equipment and supplies for the assigned area. Places general and special supply orders from purchasing promptly. Thoroughly cleans the room to prepare for the next patient. Recommends terminal clean to meet patient infection control standards. Wears a personal monitoring device on the collar and outside the apron consistently. Submits it promptly and regularly for assessment of occupational dosage. Reports any loss, damage, or unusual events associated with personal monitoring device immediately to the Radiation Safety Office. Diligently observes patient, recognizes changes in condition, and seeks appropriate assistance. Verify the requisition/chart for a valid written order, priority, date, ordering comments, and physician's notes. Use the time-out process for invasive procedures, precautions, and patient consent forms. Ensures that records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling. Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures. Key Success Factors Able to explain the procedure and put patients at ease. Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Remain professional, review patient satisfaction scores, and develop action plans when needed.
