The Respiratory Care Practitioner provides diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory services to adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients across various clinical units. They are responsible for maintaining equipment, documenting patient care, and collaborating with a diverse healthcare team to ensure safe and effective treatment.
Candidates must hold an Associate of Science degree from a CoARC-accredited program and possess at least one year of clinical experience. Required certifications include a California Respiratory Care Practitioner license, RRT, BLS, PALS, and ACLS.
The Respiratory Care Prac(SSN)-FIT is part of Loma Linda University Shared Services (LLUSS) supplemental staffing. The Respiratory Care Prac(SSN)-FIT does not have a physical home unit, but instead, functions out of a home department and self-schedules or is assigned to units, departments, or hospitals on an as needed basis. Supplements unit-based or department-based staffing resources as needed, e.g., sick calls, vacations, federal and state legislative leaves, vacancies. Exhibits flexibility by rotating through all units in and has obtained competency. Administers simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, which assist in the treatment and diagnosis of adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. Provides care in general, critical care and specialty areas. Possesses advanced skills and assessment and appropriate application of respiratory care services in one age specific group and intermediate skills in other age groups. Records treatment and diagnostic information in the medical record. Embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements in practice to enhance the patient experience and clinical outcomes. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.
Associate of Science Degree obtained from a CoARC (Commission on Accreditation Respiratory Care) accredited Respiratory Therapy Program required. Minimum one year of clinical experience required.
Respiratory Care Practitioner License from the State of California is required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC (National Board of Respiratory Care) required. Basic Life Support Provider (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) are required. Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) preferred.
