The surgical technologist acts as a scrub technologist in the surgical suite, ensuring aseptic technique and assisting with patient care plans. They are responsible for preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies while maintaining a state of readiness for operative cases.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited surgical technologist course preferred. One year of experience in a surgical technologist role is preferred, along with a current BLS certification.
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training: High school graduate or equivalent required Must have experience working in an Operating Room as a Tech Completion of Surgical Technologist Course from an Accredited CAHEA Program preferred Work Experience: 1 year experience as a surgical technologist preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Works with complex monitoring and life- saving equipment. Reads, writes, and speaks English. Knowledge of Standard Precautions. Position involves skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material. Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific physiological/psychosocial/ developmental/ spiritual needs of patients typically served. Demonstrates self-directed learning and achievement of assigned clinical area objectives.
