The pharmacy technician works under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide pharmacy services including dispensing, compounding, and unit dosing. They are also responsible for inventory control, compliance audits, and maintaining accurate pharmacy records.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and hold a valid Texas Board of Pharmacy registration for Pharmacy Tech. Previous experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy is preferred, along with knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacy calculations.
Works under direct supervision of the licensed pharmacist and/or Lead Pharmacy Technician are responsible for providing pharmacy services including but not limited to dispensing, nonsterile and sterile compounding, unit dosing, performing inventory control, out dating medications, unit inspections, compliance audits, and maintaining pharmacy records. Major responsibilities of the pharmacy technician will vary depending on the role assigned to he or she designated on their shift.
