This position will also work closely with our Emergency department.

As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician, you are a liaison between our internists, ER department, and our clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors.
You will be involved with client contact through phone calls, email and texting, and in-person conversations.
This role is ideal for a technician who thrives in a specialty setting, values collaboration, and is motivated to provide a high standard of care for complex cases.
Our Internal Medicine service focuses on delivering the highest standard of care for patients and clients, and you will help create a calm, fear-free experience for both.
Strong anesthesia, phlebotomy skills, organizational skills and communication skills are required.
As an IM Veterinary Technician, you will...
Assist with advanced procedures including endoscopies and other minimally invasive diagnostics.
These include upper and lower GI endoscopies, gastric foreign body removals, bronchoscopies, rhinoscopies, and cystoscopies, bone marrow biopsies, and various needle biopsies.
You will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining equipment following procedures.
Calculate all medical math and drug dosages quickly, correctly, and as efficiently as possible.
Place IV catheters quickly and efficiently with as little trauma as possible.

These are not limited to peripheral IV cathters.
Central line and PICC line placement will also be expected from time to time.
Calculate and administer fluid therapy, and administer medications.
Place nasogastric tubes quickly and efficiently.
Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia cases.
Ventilator experience helpful.
Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures, including CT's (you will be expected to be able to run the CT as well).
Support management of complex Internal Medicine cases, including gastrointestinal, endocrine, immune-mediated, hepatic, and renal diseases.
Collect and handle diagnostic samples, and send them to the appropriate laboratory in a time efficient manner.
Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations.
Help with complex hospitalized cases, working closely and collaborating with our ER and Critical Care team.
Review all medical records from previous veterinary clinics, making sure all information we have for our patients is complete and accurate prior to their appointments.
If information is missing, you will also be tasked with contacting other clinics to have records sent over to us.
Create new medical record histories for the Internist so she can focus on patient care.
Help with general housekeeping and cleanliness, including helping with laundry at times.
This is a very fast-paced hospital open 24 hours a day.
The ability to mutitask is a very strong plus!
Additional job duties as assigned.
This position is Monday - Thursday 7:00am - 4:00pm.
The ability to be on-call will be required from time to time.
