Miami, FL Full-Time JS EEG Summary Electroencephalograph Technician operate electronic equipment which graphically records electrical impulses generated in the brain to obtain data for evaluation of certain brain disorders.
Performs EEGs on in/out patients according to the American Electroencephalographic Society's Guidelines in EEG/Minimum Technical Standards for: - Performing Clinical EEG, - Pediatric EEG - EEG Recording of Suspected Cerebral Death. Performs EEG in monitoring of surgical procedures and direct electroencephalography during epilepsy surgery. Obtains tracings from chronically implanted electrodes. Summarizes the patient's neurologic status and clinical history from the chart, patient, or other knowledgeable persons. Explains the recording procedure, using a style appropriate to the age and needs of the patient and family. Adapts methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on age groups, patient specific needs, hx, etc. Provides appropriate patient care for age groups served and detailed observations of clinical manifestations during seizures and other patient emergency situations. Keeps room and equipment in clean operating condition. Performs maintenance and minor repair of laboratory equipment and reports the need for major repairs. Prepares EEG tracings with complete information about montages, filters, sensitivity, etc. and paperwork for interpretation by physicians. Processes paperwork and computer functions to facilitate recordkeeping and billing. Orders and distributes laboratory supplies. Retrieves previous EEG tracings and/or reports for reference. Schedules in/outpatients when necessary. Prepares equipment for sterilization. Assists supervisor in the technical training of students in affiliated EEG technology programs, residents and visiting personnel as needed. Accepts "on-call" duties when assigned. Participates in professional association activities, meetings, seminars and in-services, keeping abreast of new developments in EEG technology. Performs other related work as required to assure efficiency of the Department. Assists with fielding phones, filing and other front office functions as needed. Is competent in the following, as appropriate to the age of the patients served: - the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patients needs; - a knowledge of patient growth and development. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Education High School diploma is required.
