The sterile processing technician is responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment. They must maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and ensure compliance with regulatory standards to support clinical operations.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire. One year of prior Central Service or Sterile Processing experience and relevant professional certification are strongly preferred.
The sterile processing technician coordinates and collaborates the overall cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilizing and dispensing of reusable surgical instruments, equipment and supplies needed for daily surgical procedures, bedside procedures, dental instruments, and other related departments.
