The Research Assistant will conduct complex research projects, perform non-routine laboratory procedures, and analyze data to advance scientific goals. Additionally, they will oversee day-to-day lab operations, including equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and mouse colony management.
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline with at least 5 years of experience, or a master's degree with at least 3 years of experience. Proficiency in specialized laboratory techniques and the ability to operate sophisticated scientific equipment are essential.
Position Title: Research Assistant III
The Jin lab in Dorris Neuroscience Center at Scripps Research is seeking an energetic, bright, and highly motivated individual with backgrounds in chemistry, biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and bioengineering are especially encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will work directly with the principal investigator and collaborate with existing lab members to advance the project, and gain valuable bench-side and analytical experience in a fast-paced research environment. In addition, will oversee the day-to-day workings of the lab and the space allocation, equipment maintenance, and overall lab safety. Will perform these duties smoothly while handling additional matters as they arise.
Plan and conduct complex or novel research projects that involve the performance of non-routine procedures, development of new or improved techniques and evaluation criteria, thorough data analysis and complex interpretations of results; assist in designing experiments; operate sophisticated scientific lab equipment; may plan and conduct a small or average size project or a large portion of a more diverse project; may supervise or provide work direction and training to a small staff of professional-level employees; perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.
This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
The expected hiring range for this position is $70,304 - $84,375 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
