The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing patient respiratory status, developing individualized care plans, and administering therapeutic interventions such as mechanical ventilation and medication. They also provide patient education, respond to respiratory emergencies, and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
Candidates must hold a National Board of Respiratory Care certification and a North Carolina state license, along with BLS and ACLS certifications. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience is preferred, and the role requires strong communication and critical thinking skills.
oDevelops and documents individualized respiratory care plans within 8 hours of admission, based on assessment findings and patient-specific needs such as bronchodilator therapy, chest physiotherapy, and patient education on inhaler use, breathing techniques, and home care. oWorks with the interdisciplinary team and patient/family to set realistic respiratory goals, including oxygen therapy, airway clearance, and ventilator weaning strategies.
